NIHI Lab on the radio!
KXCL radio hosts Dr. De Vore and indigenous lab students: Jariah Callado, Gwen Flores, Melissa Jacquez and Nieves on educating the community through an Indigenous lens!
Nihi lab members were invited to join Dr. De Vore on KXCI 91.3 Cultivating Indigenous voices, hosted by Valentian Andrew (Tohono O’odham), to educate the public through an Indigenous lens. KXCI asked to showcase a one-of-a-kind lab in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, where cutting-edge process engineering meets deep respect for Indigenous knowledge systems. Additionally, Nihi Lab was founded by the first Native American professor in the University of Arizona School of Engineering, Dr. Cherie De Vore. She thought the best way to showcase our lab was to invite our indigenous students, Neives (Huachichil Chichimecatl), Jariah Callado (Jicarilla Apache), Gwen Flores (Pascua Yaqui), and Melissa Jacquez (Diné). The whole team was so excited for each of their sessions, enjoying their first radio experiences!
