Nihi Lab co-hosts TOCC student for A Student’s Journey (ASJ) internship

Nihi Lab hosted a Tohono O’odham Community College (TOCC) student through a 5 week internship program from June 10, 2025 - July 18, 2025, culminating in a student showcase on July 18, 2025. Quaidin Ben, Dine, was co-mentored by students in the Nihi Lab group to produce a poster on the role of fungi as one of nature’s bioengineers. Quaidin plans to apply for undergraduate studies at the U of A to continue research after he obtains his associates degree.

Mentoring is a quiet grace — the steady hand, the listening heart, and the joy of watching young minds grow into their truth, one thoughtful step at a time. It is truly my honor and joy to lead students towards growth & opportunity!
Gratitude to my amazing research group for their peer mentoring and leadership with Quaidin
